Lip Care!

This is going to sound really odd, but today, i thought i would share my knowledge with you about lips. Not many people class lips as an important part of their face, others do. Some people like to have plumper, more fuller lips, where some others couldn't care less. But whatever we do or don't do to our lips, we must look after them! Keeping lips hydrated could be as easy as applying lip balm, or as complex as going to the salon to get them professionally done, but personally, i think we should all make a little effort to give our lips some luxury.

I have a friend who often visits Lush, and on her most recent visit, she brought a Lush Lip Scrub in the flavor 'Popcorn'. This is a little pot of exfoliater for your lips, which makes them soft and plum, and at the same time, tastes amazing.  As far as i'm aware, i think these might be a bit pricey, so maybe if you're on a budget, these aren't the best things for you, but i'm sure they are sold in many other stores as they are very very popular with everybody.

Like i said, keeping lips hydrated could be as simple as using lip balm, so i picked up the 'Burts Bee's Honey Lip Balm'. I know there's meant to be a mango flavour, but the shop i was in had run out, so i chose the honey one. It's not the nicest smell OR taste, and i suppose they are the main 2 factors when choosing a lip balm, but after a few minutes, your lips feel smooth and soft, and the taste goes quite quick, so really, it's just like any other lip balm.
There isn't really a product for this next one, its more about controlling what we do. We all know that licking our lips can sometimes cool them down and moisten them up, but what we DON'T know is that our saliva can bring great damage to our lips. The saliva evaporates quickly, leaving them even dryer than before, meaning licking your lips has just achieved you nothing but damage.

Drinking plenty of water will also help you and your lips stay hydrated and moist- moist lips means no licking them! Also, stay away from foods that leave salt or sugar on your lips. These aren't just bad for you, but you will be temped to lick them!

To exfoliate lips without a lip product, all you need to do is grab a toothbrush, and wet it slightly. Then gently rub the tooth brush over your lips like you would brush your teeth, this will rub off all the dead skin. If you have a spare tooth brush that you wont be using for your teeth, you could use petroleum jelly instead of water.

If you can, try and breathe through your nose. I know quite a lot of people naturally already do this, but there are a certain amount of people (me included!) that find it difficult to breathe with their mouths closed. With your mouth open, air is going in and out of your mouth, making your lips dry up, making you want to lick them.

Try not to use any flavored chap stick or lipstick in the healing process of chapped lips, because you will want to taste it. And whats the only way to taste your lips? That's right, licking them. DO NOT LICK YOUR LIPS.

TQ xo
