Big Hair, Don't Care!

Volume can sometimes be very hard to achieve if you have long or fine hair, or you may just not
know what products to use or what techniques to do.
Having volume makes your hair look more alive and less dull, and lets be honest, no one flat hair do they?
So i put together some tips on how to get volume or make your hair 'bigger'... if you like.
ENJOY:)

  • Before blow drying, you need to use a volumising product, for example Tresemme 24 Hour Dramatic Volume Blow Dry Lotion, which came with my hair dryer, or you can just use mouse. I don't really like to use mouse on wet hair, don't know why but i just never have. Also, mouse is alot sticker than spray, so i suggest if you want to start out with volumising products, you start off with a spray
  • After you applied the product, the next way to get volume would be to blow dry your hair upside down. This is also very damaging for your hair though, so i would suggest A LOT of heat protectant all over the hair. When blow drying hair backwards, you need to use a vented brush, which are very cheap
  • After blow drying your hair, you should have a lot of volume and style. If you wanted more volume, and some slight curls depending on the size, you could try Velcro rollers. These are very popular and come in different sizes to determine what size you want your curls / how much volume you want, and they're also very cheap. Hair grips maybe needed to hold them in place, but by around 1-2 hours, you should have nice voluminous hair:) You can do this with wet hair too.
  • Hairspray and back combing can also have an effect on volume. I wouldn't suggest back combing to anyone as this can cause extreme damage and knots and tangles, but hair spray at the routes of your hair can make it look tall and voluminous, as long as you use a good brand and not one that makes your hair look crispy and feel brittle and breakable. This works well because if you get it in the wrong place, you can just brush it out and start again. So a win-win situation.

  • I sometimes find that products such as the 'Studio Matte and Messy' salt spray can add volume, not necessarily to roots, but to the middle and ends of your hair, making it look beachy and cute.
  • If you would prefer not to blow dry your hair backwards, then i suggest you try a diffuser. This is quite a threatening looking object, which can be tricky to get used to if you're a beginner, however can achieve amazing volume AND waves in a few minutes. You attach it to your blow dryer, and instead of blowing it around your head, you scrunch. For a tutorial on how to diffuse your hair, click here.

I hope i helped someone with these tips, and in no time, you can get nice, voluminous hair in no time, possibly with some curls! Please share this post around if you enjoyed it, and i shall be writing again soon:) Bye!

TQ xo
