Choosing the Right Blush

Blush is one of the most important step in makeup, mainly for the fact it helps your skin become... more alive, shall we say. It can make your cheeks pop, and can compliment your face a lot if you know the right techniques. Both high street and drugstore blushers can be amazing, but if you don't know if its the right colour, then what's the point in buying it in the first place? This will be a mini guide in helping you to make the most out of your blush, or, help you buy the correct blush for your skin tone. Enjoyyyy!

Fair Skin

Like me, if you have a few freckles when the sun comes out because you're that pale, then worry no more! Before i start, quick side note- its always best to apply blusher with either an angled brush or a powder brush. The angled brush helps you be more precise when applying so you don't over load ( Don't you just hate it when that happens?!) however the powder brush helps applying blush quicker if you're in a rush, so feel free to take your pick, or even mix and match, whatever takes your fancy:).
Right, so with paler skin, I don't know about you but when i try different blushes, it feels like some pinks are too vivid, or some reds or too dark, or some corals are just too bright, and it just feels like you simply can't pull it off. However going for the lighter and more natural shades, e.g champaign, can make a huge difference. If you're a fan of pink blushes, then use a lighter one than you normally would, because this will compliment your skin tone immensely. I would recommend this one in the shade trace gold, or if you want a little less pricey, this one.

Medium Skin

For all you medium skin ladies, its highly suggested that you try to go for a tad darker than the ones I've just said, and go for the rosy pinks and deep peaches to compliment the cheek bones and jaw lines. These can be found everywhere, and depending on how light or dark you would want these, the more it may compliment your face, because everyone is different. So i'm going to leave a selection of shops/brands down below for this one.
Nars- little bit pricey.
MAC- little bit pricey.
The Natural Collection Range (Boots)- not pricey at all.
Rimmel Cream Blushes- not pricey.
Topshop Cheek Tint- pricey.

Dark Skin

Okay, your turn! For darker skin, i find that going back up to the lighter colors i said for the fair skins really compliments your bone structure if you apply it on the edge of your cheek bone, or a gold- that would look amazing. So i recommend a light shimmery colour, possibly in gold or champaign, or if you're not that into shimmer, i would recommend some light orange around the cheeks, or maybe a light, rosy pink.

Peach Shade: NYX Blush – Cinnamon

I hoped this helped at least some of you to find the right blush, I'm thinking of doing more of these helpful posts to guide people through the ins and outs of makeup, just in case there new readers, or just to help some of you beauty experts out there. Thankyou for reading:)

What's in my Makeup Bag?

I've been wanting to do this for quite a long time, so instead of procrastinating any longer, I thought I'd give it my best shot. I don't have the most makeup in the world, the problem is that I stick to what i know and love, which makes it extremely hard buying new makeup, because I'm forever questioning 'will it suit me?' 'how will it look?' So I tend do just buy the same products all over again. But here it is; Whats in my Makeup Bag!

So this is my makeup bag. I'm aware it's not the best and its certainly not the biggest, but I'm saving up for a Ted Baker one so this shall soon be gone, even though it's served me for around 4 years.

So as i emptied out my bag, i found that i have 3 concealers in it at the same time. I'm sure there is a reason behind this, but at the minute, I can't think why. Anyway, so this one is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer, and this is my current favourite! The main reason I like this is because now its getting hotter, i would prefer a lighter but strong-hold concealer, and this seems to tick all the boxes for me, especially under my eyes.

If you've been here since the beginning, you'll know that I had a massive phase of loving the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, which I've slightly gone off since the warmer weather, but for some reason, it's still in here. If i have a really bad spot, i do still use this to cover it up, but i much prefer my Rimmel at the minute.

And alas, here we have Tatum's ever first concealer pen; which is probably around 3 years old and should probably be in the bin.

This is my current foundation/brush, which is the Barry M Flawless Matte Finish, which i really like, even though i don't have oily skin. Its good coverage and good long lasting power, and this brush (The Body Collection) is amazing at applying.

Next up is my Benefits Pore-fessional pore eraser, which you can apply under or over your makeup to reduce the sight of pores and to keep your makeup on for longer. I did a review about this a few posts down on my Elle magazine post, and that tells you all the ins and out, so check it outtttt.

This is my trusty old friend who has seen me through many months, and has only recently touched pan, and that is the Rimmel Stay Matte Compressed Powder, which is good if you suffer from a shiny or oily face. I use a cotton pad to apply this, because as you probably know from previous posts, my power brush is massive. So thats a little compact tip for you.

Now as i didn't know you had to change mascara every 3 months, i have had this one for over 2 years, and probably needs throwing away and burning, but i love it, so even if i do throw it away, ill probably buy it again and again. And thats the Collection 2000 (if they still do the 2000 range) Longer Lash Waterproof mascara. This helps by lashes look longer and fuller, and whats better, in this hay fever season, its waterproof, which is always good!

And last but certainly not least is my favourite step, lip balm! Whether its tinted or creamy, i have a massive obsession with the Nivea range at the minute, as they make your lips soooo soft, and it stays on through water, which i think more lip balm companies should learn to do, so if any of you lip balm creators are out there... take note. ;-)

And that's about it for my makeup bag contents, i hope you all enjoyed! I do apologies for the all-over-the-place posting, but things have been happening, then the Internet went down, and then i had to write everything, so sorry, and a regular schedule will now be maintained:) Hope you had an amazing Monday!

Staying safe in the Sun!

Well because I haven't posted in A WEEK *slaps wrist* I just wanted to do a mini post, followed by a big post that should be here by either tonight or tomorrow morning.

So this weekend's forecast has shown that this weekend is going to be rather hot, sweaty, and the hottest weekend of the year so far. For most of us, this would mean going outside, having a BBQ, sun bathing, whatever tickles your pickle. However while you're doing all these activities, the sun is penetrating you with it's very toxic UV rays, getting into your skin and making you more at risk of diseases and even skin cancer.
The obvious option to take would of course be wearing much less makeup so you can apply lots of sun cream throughout the day (around 3, depending on how hot it was and how quickly you burn) unless you really need to wear makeup, i recommend wearing a foundation or concealer with built-in SPF, but because it's going to be THAT hot, I would have thought it would just slide off your face and possibly onto the floor, so always have some sun cream near, no matter what.
Another importance is water; to keep yourself hydrated and healthy. The recommended amount of water to drink would be 8 glasses a day, but i personally think a little bit more is needed in hot weather, just to take extra care and caution.

I know this hasn't been a long post AT ALL, but it was just a mini reminder to help protect you and your skin from getting ill, so i really hope you enjoy this mini heatwave we've been expecting, and have fun! I'll try my best to tan, but at the minute I'm a bit like a milk bottle!

Barry M Lychee | Review

Buying a new nail polish, I saw the opportunity to write maybe a short review, even though i have no idea how I'm meant to keep you entertained with just a few words on nails. So I've decided that after I've written this, I'm going to be doing several nail art designs on all the colours i can find in the world, and post them with a tutorial, because it's just occurred to me that this is my first nail related post, so lets get this started and watch my poor attempt of trying to describe this nail polish without trying it on! (I would try it on but.. fake nails)

I got this nail polish called 'Lychee' at the Barry M counter in Boots, and i'd heard quite a lot of people raving about it so i thought i'd see if they had it in stock, which they had. This is a 'Gelly Hi-Shine', meaning that it looks like gel nails and is very shiny. In my personal opinion, I don't think it looks that different to normal nail polish anyway, so I'm not too sure why i spent more on a specific type, but if you see a difference, I'm glad for you.
This is very similar to the Caramel Matte polish (also Barry M) but i thought this one was a tad lighter and maybe a little bit nicer, and because the weather is turning nice, who would want dark nails?

I'm not 100% sure if that was of ANY use to anyone at all, but I kind of feel like i need to start doing more helpful reviews to help other people, but i think until I've mastered the art of reviewing nail polishes, you won't see a nail review for quite a while *unless its me showing off what i got from Boots;)*

Today's Face!

Today's post is going to be focusing on what i wore on my face today. I decided to go all-out, because i fancied a change from my usual concealer, foundation and mascara. So here's that makeup i applied, in order, to my face today. Hope y'all enjoyyy!

So first I applied my Benefits Pore-fessional around my T-zone, under my eyes, and some just above the contour area (right above the cheek bones) because i feel like thats where I have the biggest pores, and I'd quite like my makeup to stay on for quite a long time. ( I did a review about this a few posts down)

Next i applied this No.7 BB Cream around my face. This is a really good base product, partly because it gives off a nice glow, but mainly due to the fact it does actually have SPF, so it protects you from the sun. I apply this all around my face with my blue brush, which you will see later on.

Next is a favourite of mine at the moment, and thats the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. I put this around my under eye and at the sides of my nose, and around any pimples i may have (and I'm pleased to say that today i had none! Yaaay!) I sometimes apply this with my fingers, but mostly i use my beloved cotton buds.

Next i used my Barry M Flawless Matte Finish Foundation, and added a little to the places that i put my concealer, and around my cheeks and forehead. I used the Body Collection foundation brush to apply.

As you can see (or not because this is probably my most worn out product) I applied some Rimmel Stay Matte Powder with a massive powder brush with covers my entire face. I find this helps to keep some of my makeup on because its matte, meaning it can't slide off my face.

Oo look who has made an appearance! My trusty old/new friend blue brush!
This is the Rimmel Soft Cream Blush, which i apply to my cheeks and some to my neck, with either my blue brush or my blush brush (depending on how lazy i am, the black one takes a lot more work that the blue one!)

I then curled my lashes with this scary looking tool, then applied my Collection Longer Lash Waterproof mascara, which stays on a considerable about of time to say it was cheap. I put 1 coat on, then leave for around 30 seconds, then apply another coat.

Next I take one of my mini Red-herring pallets, and use the browny colour all over my lid with a cotton bud. I haven't quite yet mastered blending into the crease, but when i do, a tutorial will be on its way:) Unfortunately, these pallets don't have names, so I can't tell you exactly which colour it is. But i'm sure there are many other colours that look just like this anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

And finally, my most important step- lip balm. This Nivea one has a built in SPF, which is amazing for the lips, and it makes them feel soft, creamy and perfect, so i highly recommend any of the Nivea lip products, because they do your lips wonders.

So that is my face for today. I DID wear alot, but that was just because i felt like having a little change and sprucing things up a tad, so i hope you enjoyed and if you want to try any of these products, they should be in all good drugstores or makeup stores anywhere. Byee!

Savvy Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner | Review

As I've told you many a time, i am a very savvy shopper. If i can get something cheaper somewhere else, i will be out that door quicker than you can say bargain. I just don't see the point of wasting time shopping in a place that's more expensive than a shop you might already know... anyway. I got these 2 from a pound shop when i was in Nottingham for the day, and i decided to try them out mainly because of the Argan Oil on the front. Many bloggers have been raving about this oil for a while, claiming it did amazing things to your hair and everyone should try it. So i picked them both up, because for a pound each, it was a bargain i couldn't miss.

The smell is quite a shampoo-y smell, but it has a tang of hairdressers in it, and everyone loves the smell of hairdressers. I don't know if this is because it's a hair product, but it smells amazing, and you can still smell it on your hair the next day. And the shampoo and conditioner smell the same, which means no smell clashing!
The conditioner is much much much more thicker than the shampoo. The shampoo does feel a bit watery, but it makes the hair soft and smell nice, where as i think the conditioner does the most work, because that's when your hair really starts feeling silky and super soft.
Out of the bath/shower, your hair will smell amazing for a very long time. Some people may debate whether the silkiness goes once you blow-dry, but i definitely think that it made my hair softer and I'm hoping it has done what it said on the front; 'rejuvenates and rehydrates leaving hair shiny, smooth and healthy' (which are major statements to be making about any product, regardless of whether they work or not)
This product was very good value for money on what I've tested so far, so i recommend going down to the nearest pound store or drugstore and try these out! Byeee!!
